Data privacy GDPR requires that individuals can let organisations know if their data held by an organisation is incorrect or has changed, and the organisation must update their information accordingly.
Today we got such a notification from a client who has asked us to change their email address. However, when I went in to edit their information, which is an email list associated with a form. I was advised it cannot be done. The ability to edit the information is required for GDPR compliance.
Here is more information ..
Privacy legislation, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union or the Privacy Act in Australia, grants individuals the right to rectification of their personal data. This means that if a person believes that the information you hold about them is incorrect, incomplete, or outdated (e.g., an email address), they have the right to request that you update or correct this information.
Key points under privacy laws regarding rectification include:
Right to Correct Errors: Individuals can request that inaccurate or incomplete personal information be corrected or updated.
Obligation to Act Promptly: Organizations are usually required to respond to these requests in a timely manner. For example, GDPR requires that organizations respond within one month.
Proof of Changes: Depending on the nature of the change, the individual may request evidence of the correction (e.g., a new email address).
Notification of Changes: If the incorrect information has been shared with third parties, organizations are generally required to inform those third parties of the correction.
This is designed to ensure that individuals have control over the accuracy of their personal data held by organizations.
====> Therefore can you please make it possible to edit names and email address for contacts in form email lists.
